Elm lat. Ulmus spp.
Being characterized by elasticity and an exquisite coloring of red to a dark brown, the elm’s timber is very hard and massive. Due to it’s unique grain and persistence, it can be used for high-quality furniture. In former times, it was also used to make wheels, spokes and wagon bodies.
Elms are medium sized trees with a height of up to 130 feet and trunks with a diameter of up to 6.5 feet. They are common in tropical-montane regions but are also planted as ornamental street and park trees in Europe and North America.
